Birka on Björkö is an ancient monument and nature reserve with a rich and distinctive flora, an "eldorado" for everyone who is interested in antiquity and beautiful nature. Birka is considered to be Sweden's first city which for a time was Sweden's trade center and the Viking capital.
When we docked at Björkö, a guide received and took us on a tour around the island. We visit the summer events, hike up the lookout mountain and continue along the old castle wall. The walk ends with a visit to the island's renowned Viking Museum. The price of the trip also includes a visit to the beautiful museum that opened in the summer of I996 and which i.a. shows how Birka's inhabitants lived and lived in the ninth century.
At Birka there is a restaurant, café, toilets, bathing area, a museum and much more that you can read about on their own website. Birka Vikingastaden on Björkö in Lake Mälaren - Stockholm
