The almost two kilometres long and five hundred metres wide limestone cliff Oaxen is located east of Mörkö and west of Sorundalandet on Södertörn in the middle of Himmerfjärden about one mile south of Järnafjärden, which further north merges into the Södertälje Canal. The old lime quarry with its mill community is located in the old waters of the S/S Ejdern. The old settlement remains on the island. Take a look at the old limestone quarry's play of colours with its chalky white cliffs and azure lagoons. Someone has likened Oaxen to a boat with its keel in the weather. According to a linguist, the name Oaxen is derived from the word "ohagsön", as the sailing route between Oaxen and the islet of Regarn was quite difficult.
