The Ejdern will make an extra trip to Mariefred on 4 July

As we were unfortunately unable to take part in Ångans Dag this year, and as Birka is closed to visitors this Saturday, we are organising a special trip to Mariefred. Visit Gripsholm Castle, take a ride on the steam train, and meet up with the s/s Mariefred as it arrives from Stockholm. So make sure […]

The new stay bolt is now in place

The Midsummer weekend is now over, as is the welding work to replace the leaking stay bolt. The work has been completed and approved, including a successful pressure test. See the photos below. We in the association are delighted that the work has gone so smoothly and that our lovely Ejdern will soon be out sailing again. The season will kick off with a scheduled charter […]

The start of the season is approaching

Work to replace the leaking strut bolt is underway. Metal plates have been cut to size and new ones have begun to be welded in place. The first stage of the welding work has also been approved by the inspector. Work is progressing and we look forward to being able to pressure-test the boiler shortly. We are all pleased that the work is progressing and will keep you updated here on an ongoing basis […]

Work on the tie rod is continuing

The welding work on the boiler is continuing. The first section is complete and has been approved. The next stage is underway. We hope to be able to carry out a pressure test shortly.

The start of the season is approaching

As previously mentioned, our work to repair a leaking stay bolt in the boiler on the Ejdern has taken longer than expected. There have been lots of discussions, drawings going back and forth, and a search for welders who are both capable of and authorised to carry out the necessary work. It has all taken a long time, but we’ve finally got started on the actual welding work. Today […]

Scholarship holder from the Wholesale Society

Our association is extremely grateful for the grant we received from the Grosshandelssocietet during lunch at the Opera Terrace today. This welcome funding will go towards the restoration of the s/s Ejdern’s boiler. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1AYLHK82BF/?mibextid=wwXIfr

We’re now hoping that between five and ten people can come along and help with the work. Tue: Sat […]

Spring armour 16 May

On Saturday 16 May and possibly Sunday 17 May there will be spring cleaning on Ejdern. Go down to the ship and have fun and work a little at the same time. As usual, there will be cleaning, driving things to Enhörna, etc. And as if that wasn't enough, there will be sandwich cake, coffee and cake too. Gathering at 10:00 at the bridge.

Repair of the boiler

As previously reported, the Eider suffered a leak at a stay bolt in the late summer of 2025. After a lot of work with drawings, calculations and discussions with authorities and workshops, we are now close to the actual work of replacing the leaking stay bolt.

Maintenance continues
